We offer pre-screen services for your coins. Some coins just will not make the grade or may have problems that will prevent the grading services from slabbing the coin (Artificial toning, cleaning, damage etc). These can be very subtle, yet you pay the full grading fee and get your coin back in a bodybag.
Pricing varies by company, type of coin, value and how quickly you want your coin back. This is a professional courtesy offered by JMS Coins. It is not a profit center.

Professional appraisals on your coin or collection can be done at shows, via mail or our travel to your location. Simple verbal appraisals of less than 5 minutes are gratis. Collection appraisals that we eventually purchase are free as well. We will structure your appraisal based on your specific needs. Please contact us for details.
We will be happy to take coins on consignment, as long as the price is reasonable. We do not want to take coins at value that force retail pricing too high, as it has implications on our own inventory. Please call to discuss your needs.
We attend many major shows each year. Most of those shows have one or more auctions. Why use an intermediary? The typical pictures of ALL the major auction houses are mediocre at best. Ive seen coins pictured that look phenomenal as a scan, and in real life the coin looks nothing like the scan. You need a trained eye that can accurately describe a coin as it is in real life. Typically this would be done for more expensive coins. Additionally we can help you determine what the likely selling price will be for a particular coin.
Fee would be $50/coin or lot for the preview. If we bid on the coin for you and are successful, an additional 2% of the closing price will be assessed, in addition to the actual costs of the coin. This is not a loan service. Payment is expected once the coin is purchased. If the coin is bid on and not purchased, there is no fee. Compare this to other major dealers fees!
We love to work want lists. Attending major shows, local shows, a huge dealer/client network and having a thriving internet business allows us to come into contact with a tremendous number of coins daily. If we know you are looking for a coin, we can usually find it in a matter of days. The more detailed you can be with want lists (grade, look white/toned, grading service or raw, etc) the easier it is for us to service the list.
